Project Details

This project was designed as part of an assignment for the Google UX Design Course from Coursera. The goal of the project was to apply your learning to a practical problem and devise a unique solution. The problem I chose to work on was:

Design a mobile application that facilitates seamless connections between qualified tutors and parents in need. The parents should be able to find tutors nearby their locality at reasonable prices and app should adhere to mutual interest of both the parties.

Timeline of the project: December'24 - February'25

Target Audience:

  • Parents who are employed & don't have time

  • Parents who are not employed and have time

Pain Points:

  • Difficulty finding the right mentor/tutor.

  • Unfair pricing.

  • Lack of adjustment in tuition timing.

  • Far away from the students' locality.

Secondary Research: Through user surveys and interviews, we gained crucial insights into user needs, the challenges faced in finding a tutor nearby, the lack of advertisement for tuition services, and many other salient factors affecting decision-making. Some key insights include:

Solution

After understanding the problem statement and pain points of the users, I tried to list down possible solutions (not just limited to the app) that could solve the problem:

Information Architecture: After understanding the user personas and problem statements derived from secondary research, I decided to create Information Architecture (IA) to provide a high-level overview of the app’s structure, keeping in mind the above features, helping to organise the information in a way that makes sense to the users.

In order to ensure a smooth user experience, I created user flows for the app. The flow is focused on finding nearby tutors and easily customising the tuition plans for the students.

Low-fidelity wireframes: After understanding the structure of Information architecture and mapping the user flow, it’s time to gather our insights from above and create low-fidelity wireframes that help us get clarity about the final/high-fidelity screens.

Learnings:

  • Creating an ecosystem of learning by practising transparent tutorship among young kids by potential tutors can benefit them in their academics, resultantly performing better in all spheres.

  • I wanted to create an application that resolves users' basic needs in the Indian context. The future steps would be to determine how I can improve the user flow and make it visually engaging. To conclude, I think any problem can be solved if we look closer at what core values it holds and how we can offer this service with ease.
